Southwest Showcase 2017 is your best education value. Over the next few weeks we’ll demonstrate that value with a series of emails providing an in-depth look at the sessions scheduled for this year’s conference.
We’ll get things started with a description of our new Jumpstart session. The 7:15-8:15am Jumpstart session was begun last year so that our attendees could achieve five hours of CEUs in one day.
Listen up! SWS17 Speaker Showcase
Get your Southwest Showcase experience off to an electric start with this year’s Jumpstart session, now in its second year. You’ll have the opportunity to hear three top-notch keynote speakers in one sitting: Sara Canaday from Austin, Leo Cardenas from Dallas, and David Cook from Waco.
Sara Canaday is a speaker and leadership strategist who helps people identify the blind spots that are preventing them from taking their careers (and their companies) to the next level. Drawing on 15 years of corporate experience, Sara’s audiences walk away with actionable strategies for positive change-strengthening leadership skills, improving business relationships and enhancing performance. She has shared her expertise with thousands of talented pro-fessionals in Fortune 500 companies, entrepreneurial start-ups, top industry groups and trade organizations. She is the author of “You-According to Them: Uncovering the blindspots that impact your reputation and your career.”
Leo Cardenas arrived in the United States from Venezuela in 1992-without any knowledge of English. It was body language that helped him break through the language barrier. Although now proficient in English, he credits his communication foundation to nonverbal cues and has made a career out of helping others interpret, identify and project a powerful image through the art and science of body language. He combines years of experience as a corporate trainer and speaker with his body language certification to create programs that are powerful, interactive and memorable.
David Cook is a speaker, consultant, peak performance coach, author, and filmmaker in the field of Sport and Performance Psychology. He served as “Mental Training Coach” for the San Antonio Spurs from 1996-2004, when they won two World Championships. He is currently coaching several of the Tour’s top players. As past president of the National Sport Psychology Academy he is known as a leading authority in the science of peak performance. He has coached members of the PGA, NBA (including NBA MVP’s, David Robinson and Tim Duncan), NFL, and the Olympics. His business clients include Exxon Mobil, Sprint, Whole Foods, American Express, Texas Instruments, and many others. In 2006 he released his first performance novel, Golf’s Sacred Journey: Seven Days at the Links of Utopia. In 2010 the book was made into a movie, Seven Days in Utopia, with academy award winners Robert Duvall and Melissa Leo.
